WARNING GWG (Grown Woman Gushing) FOLLOWS BELOW:

I have watched N&S 5 times in the last 3 weeks. I first saw it when it was shown on the BBC back in 2004...thought it was good. Then last year I read the book..yes that was good too. Then I ordered the DVD and watched it again. And this time, it suddenly crept up on me that John Thornton is the perfect man- in fact he has reaffirmed my faith in all men.

I love that Margaret never sets out to get "her man"- she gets on with her life, is loving and giving, and finds love under her nose.

I first read the Gaskell's novel and I was so fond of it that I can't help to order by England the BBC play...Such a wonderful and formidable adaptation! I'm very happy to find out how many people have loved both the novel and the BBC work!

Hey! I love this site almost as much as i love N&S itself. I saw the BBC miniseries a couple months ago and have been obsessed with it and Richard Armitage since. Sad to say, only just today did I finish the novel, and what a glorious novel it is!grin Anyway, I just thought I'd let you all know how wonderful I think this place is!

Much Love,

-Edwina

I love this site! I've been in love with north and south for like two years now when I first saw the bbc mini series, then I read the book and was more it love with it (although I do like the ending better in the mini series). It's like Lizzie Gaskell looked into the future, saw RA and wrote the character John Thornton for him. wink

hey i saw a screen saver north and south wedding where did the pictures for that come from? was it a composite or is there actully cut scene?

That was a photo manipulation done in Photoshop. It was not part of the miniseries.
